How to sign an electricity contract?

Here are some guidelines on what to keep in mind when concluding an electricity contract.

Everything comes down to the network contract

Before signing an electricity contract, you need to enter into a network contract. A network contract is required for the daily supply of electricity to the point of consumption.

A network contract specifies the terms and conditions of electricity supply, the price package of the network service and contact details for providing information, such as notices about planned interruptions.

You can sign a network contract with the network operator in whose area your home is located. As a customer of the Elektrilevi network area, you can most conveniently sign a network contract in Elektrilevi’s self-service.

Signing an electricity contract takes just a few clicks

We recommend that you also sign an electricity contract on the same day when you conclude a network contract – this way, both contracts will come into effect at the same time. You can easily sign a suitable electricity contract with Enefit in our self-service.

To sign a contract, you must first choose an electricity package. At Enefit, we have made the choice easy – you can choose between fixed and exchange packages.

If you want to predict your expenses in advance and do not want to take possible price risks, the Fixed package is best suited for you. If you want to take advantage of the market price and benefit from more affordable hours, but are also prepared for price fluctuations, the Exchange package is best suited for you.

The Fixed electricity package ensures a fixed price

In the electricity package with a fixed price, the unit price of electricity is agreed upon and does not change during the validity period of the contract. This way, you know exactly how much each kilowatt-hour you consume costs and can conveniently plan your monthly expenses. With our Fixed package, you can fix the electricity price for 6 to 36 months.

The Exchange package is based on the exchange price

In the exchange package, the price of electricity changes every hour and it cannot be predicted. The exchange price is influenced by several factors, such as electricity supply and demand as well as the share of renewable energy in the market. It is possible to take advantage of lower-priced hours by managing consumption, but it is also essential to be prepared for potential price peaks. You can conveniently keep track of exchange prices with our app.

Green energy

As an option, you can choose the Exchange or Fixed electricity package with renewable (green) energy. In this case, the electricity supplied to your home is generated from 100% renewable sources, primarily solar, wind and hydro-energy. By incorporating green energy into your life, you reduce carbon dioxide emissions and your environmental footprint.

What happens if the electricity supplier is not selected?

If you have an existing network contract, but you have not concluded an electricity contract with any electricity suppliers, you will automatically be switched to the universal service.

The universal service means that you can consume electricity without an electricity contract, but you have no influence over the way the electricity price is determined. The price is affected by the consumption of all customers using the universal service, and a margin predetermined by the Competition Authority is added to the price.

If you no longer want to use the universal service, all you have to do is conclude an electricity contract with a suitable electricity supplier.
