Andres Vainola departs from Eesti Energia Group

Andres Vainola, a member of the Management Board of Eesti Energia, is resigning from his position in agreement with the Chairman of the Management Board, Andrus Durejko, and the Supervisory Board of the energy group as of July 5th. Additionally, Vainola will resign as the Chairman of the Management Board of Enefit Power in agreement with the Supervisory Board of Enefit Power as of September 6th.

A public competition will be conducted for the new Member of the Management Board of Eesti Energia and Chairman of the Management Board of Enefit Power.

Andrus Durejko, Chairman of the Management Board of Eesti Energia and the Supervisory Board of Enefit Power, acknowledged Vainola’s significant contributions to the company’s development, including his leadership of Enefit Power during the energy crisis. The incoming leader’s primary challenge will be to transform Enefit Power into a profitable and sustainable company.

“Eesti Energia’s foundation is built on infrastructure that delivers value to customers, including power plants managed by Enefit Power that ensure Estonia’s supply security and the production of liquid fuels, from which we are developing a circular economy-based chemical industry. Enefit Power requires a new long-term strategic plan to maintain competitiveness, profitability, and sustainability in a rapidly changing world. Therefore, I see the need for a fresh perspective. On behalf of the Supervisory Board and the company, I extend my gratitude to Andres for his dedicated work and the time and energy he has invested,” stated Durejko.

"Ten years with the Eesti Energia Group, including the last four as the head of Enefit Power, has been equivalent to serving the Estonian state. It has provided me with invaluable life experience and the opportunity to address significant challenges for Estonia. Having spent most of my life in private enterprise, I feel it is time to return to that sector. A new leader can bring fresh energy to Enefit Power, driving the company forward and contributing even more to Eesti Energia’s green journey," said Vainola.

The Management Board consisting of six members elected by the company's Supervisory Board is responsible for the executive management of Eesti Energia. The Chairman of the Management Board is Andrus Durejko, and the members of the Board are Kelli Toss-Kaasik, Marlen Tamm, Kristjan Kuhi, and Raido Ivalo. The sixth member of the Management Board and the Chairman of the Management Board of Enefit Power will be selected through a public competition. The Management Board of Enefit Power includes Arles Taal, Erkki Kaisla, Meelis Goldberg, and Aleksandr Jefremov.
