Starting this year, Enefit has expanded its business to government (B2G) activities, states Roul Tutt, a Member of the Management Board of Enefit, responsible for the company's sales strategy. This new line of business will bring innovative and useful energy solutions from Enefit to local governments and public sector entities, helping to increase financial savings and reduce the environmental footprint.

‘Many local governments are faced with a situation where they are required to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and to build a charging network for electric vehicles. However, they often do not know what would be the best solution, taking into account the needs and specifics of their area. This is where we can help,’ believes Roul Tutt, explaining the decision to enter the B2G market.

‘With the new line of business, we want to continue to be a reliable energy partner for our customers on their green journey. In our product portfolio, we have included energy solutions that offer the greatest benefits for the public sector and local governments, operate in an energy-efficient manner, and reduce the environmental footprint,’ Tutt concludes.

Tanel Lillesaar, head of the B2G segment at Enefit, adds that one of his goals was to create synergies between Enefit products and national and European Union support measures to ensure the best possible solution for local governments and companies. ‘We are actively cooperating with the Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture and the Ministry of Climate,’ states Lillesaar. ‘We offer various seminars and consultations to local governments and county development centres, in order to contribute to the promotion of sustainable development and energy efficiency at the local level.’

Lillesaar adds that Enefit has already signed a long-term contract with 12 local governments to provide full street lighting services. Additionally, Enefit Volt's public charging network is available in all municipalities throughout Estonia. Enefit is also a partner to provide energy performance certificates. In addition, Enefit supplies electricity and provides local governments with high-speed internet through an operator-neutral telecommunications network, which already covers the major part of Estonia. A solution can also be found for the production and storage of solar energy. This is becoming increasingly important for local governments' continuity needs.

Lillesaar invites all people to look around their local area to see which energy solutions are missing or need to be modernised. ‘Encourage the heads of your rural municipalities to develop the local energy infrastructure. We can offer help and advice, starting with presenting individual, environmentally friendly and state-of-the-art solutions that create the greatest benefits both for the people and the municipality,’ notes Lillesaar.

Enefit is a subsidiary of Eesti Energia, which from 1 January 2024 is the provider of the energy products and services previously provided by Eesti Energia: electricity, gas, solar and storage solutions, household and public electric vehicle charging solutions, insurance, electrical works and heating solutions. As of 2024, all Eesti Energia customers are Enefit customers.
