In the words of Aavo Kärmas, Chairman of the Management Board of Enefit Green, Eesti Energia has set the ambitious goal of increasing the production of energy from renewable and alternative sources to 40% of total electricity production by 2022, and Enefit Green has an important role to play in this. “Lithuania is an important market for us, where we currently have five wind farms with a total capacity of 139 MW and 300 MW pipeline of development projects. In addition, we are ready to invest in projects in Estonia, Finland, Latvia and also Poland. Linas has extensive experience in the development of renewable energy in Lithuania and other markets, which is why he is also performing the duties of manager for Lithuania as well as Member of the Management Board of Enefit Green,” noted Kärmas. Linas Sabaliauskas’ main area of responsibility as a Member of the Management Board of Enefit Green will be the development and implementation of renewable energy projects.

“I have always wanted to work for a company with ambitious goals, ones that are also achievable in the form of challenges. Enefit Green’s strategy is to grow and increase its production volumes throughout the region. By doing so the company will become an increasingly more important and international player in the Baltic Sea region, which means that we must always think several steps ahead. I believe that as a Member of the Management Board and country manager for Lithuania, I will be able to help Enefit Green in reaching its goals and achieving its objectives,” said Sabaliauskas. According to him, Enefit Green’s excellent organisational culture, which values its employees was, among other things, the deciding factor when it came to his joining of the company.

Linas Sabaliauskas has nearly 16 years of experience working in renewable energy through his work at Lithuania’s Achema Group, with Sabaliauskas serving as Chairman of the Management Board of Achema Group for the last year. In addition, Sabaliauskas has served as Chairman and Member of the Management Board of the Lithuanian Wind Energy Association and the Lithuanian Hydropower Association. For the past two years he was the Chairman of the Energetics Committee at the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists.

The Management Board of Enefit Green will continue with four members. In addition to Chairman of the Management Board Aavo Kärmas, and Linas Sabaliauskas, who was recently appointed and is responsible for the management of the mentioned development projects, the management board also includes Innar Kaasik, who is responsible for production, and Veiko Räim, who is active in the field of finance.

Enefit Green is a renewable energy company owned by Eesti Energia, which produces electricity and heat from wind, water, biomass, solar, biogas and mixed municipal waste. In addition, Enefit Green owns a pellet factory in Latvia. In November 2018, the company acquired Nelja Energia. Following the transaction, the annual electrical output of Enefit Green grew nearly three times, reaching the level of one terawatt hour.
